"nobody should shoot at people." are you arguing for abolishing the military?
"nobody should shoot at people." are you arguing for abolishing the military?
Sure
Good luck. I think the vast majority of people disagree there's never a time to shoot people though
I mean. If you have basic reading comprehension skills, you can see that, in context, what I was actually saying is simply “do not shoot at ICE officers because it’s not likely to help anything.” But like, since you’re randomly bringing the military into it, yes, I am a pacifism absolutist.
I am aware that it is not a popular opinion.
There's a difference between bad strategy and morally wrong. Personally I don't think John Brown was morally wrong. I don't think the Jews in the Warsaw uprising were morally wrong.
I would say that ethical frameworks which permit individuals or groups to do violence in self-defense or defense of others may be valid and may be held to by admirable people who do great things. I do not think the US military is such an entity.
but also like dude. do you just go around this website looking for pacifists to argue with or what
I'm ornery because people keep pretending nazism emerged fully formed in 1944 and ignoring we're doing basically everything they did in the 30s
Okeydokey well it seems like you want to have an argument with someone else in that case
well then I saw your post and I wanted people to think about if they consider the Warsaw uprising immoral or not because we're headed there
I get a different version of the same question about the nazis basically any time anyone learns that I am a pacifist. As a Pole and a descendant of Poles who were murdered by nazis, I am capable of recognizing the bravery and sacrifice of the Warsaw uprising while condemning all violence.
