The U.S. could stop adult boosters for both tetanus and diphtheria, which are given together, saving the strapped U.S. healthcare system about $1 billion a year, says Mark Slifka.

I think OHSU needs to confer with the nearest Vet school, as the interval for people with regular exposure to animal feces is 5-7 years. Too bad my father can no longer tell the story of tending a tetanus victim in their last days, too.

This is interesting, and is how medicine should be practiced, evidence based. I worry that this will be used as an excuse to stop other vaccines because of the current administration, but glad to know that the risk of dealing with either one of these diseases is lower than previously thought ...

... with only the childhood vaccines. (Have my date of last tetanus vaccine written on my driver's license, I need it so often 🙄)

Jesus Christ, its all fun and games until Americans start dying from lockjaw and god damn diptheria again. Fuck this new anti-intellectual culture. I hope you all die from curable diseases before you kill your innocent children.

And we need the vaccines we need even if the system is impoverished. The pharm managers and heads of ins. companies and all the people being paid to deny coverage shouldn't be paid so much. There's enough money there, just flowing to the wrong places and people

Why am I paying so much for medical care and prescriptions then? Who's making all the money? The system may be impoverished but the managers of the system are rich

The Time is Now! @edumacated.bsky.social

Who’s TAKING all the money? Health insurance companies, pharmacy benefits managers, pharmaceutical companies, private equity firms, and fucking BILLIONAIRES. Every year, we pay more for less. Every year, they pocket the PROFITS they make from the suffering and deaths of patients untreated.
