My prediction is that elevator repair parts are going to be a very disruptive and expensive part of US tariffs. Canada might want to adopt European elevator standards so that new buildings are cheaper. The NA market does not have enough manufacturers so the supply chain is fragile. #CdnPoli

Elevator maintenance has been a mess for a while. Shortage of licensed mechanics and general supply chain issues means elevators can be offline for months. I wonder if there have been any changes to preventative maintenance like how much salt is poured into them (and escalators).

Agreed. But OCT is a minor blip of our risk. We have lots of older one-elevator buildings. What percentage of folks 6 floors or higher could carry their groceries up?

Probably another ticking timebomb in older buildings. And newer ones too. I recall many newer condos in Toronto have experienced elevator outages and are under serviced by existing elevator banks.
