Even in a direct democracy the actions of a state are constrained by more than just public opinion. Anyway I wish you would stop privileging the perspective of the fascists because it literally helps legitimize them.
so what's a "country" then? a state? or its people? I contend that a lot of Americans--people--like the direction of the country right now, the state, and that's how Trump won the popular vote. I am saying that majorities can sometimes wish ill and want bad things. this is not controversial.

America *is* a racist country. Racism is a lot of things, including an ideological motivation to privilege certain races over others; your refusal to consider the rest of America on par with the minority of fascist white people is exactly that: it's racist.
A lot of white people like you outside of the US don't understand that they sound almost exactly like MAGA. That, were they here, they would be part of the problem.
