this had to be for a bit or something... too many times they could have just driven forward into the spot and there's no way they could've been confused about that. right?

Maybe. I've taken care of a parking lot before and what looked obvious to me would continually elude some drivers. Frustration & anxiety tend to build exponentially making the whole situation worse. 🤭
