Anything you use on a regular basis and for me that a vacuum cleaner. We have three dogs plus I house/pet sit and not all of my clients have a really good vacuum. I usually clean the house the final day of my gigs. For that extra wow and gratuity.

When I say "should never" I'm less concerned about cheap items which perform poorly or will have to be replaced too frequently and more those that will actively hurt you e.g. cheap shoes, cheap jack stands.
