Influenza (flu) & COVID-19 are both contagious respiratory illnesses, but they’re caused by different viruses. COVID is caused by infection with a coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) first identified in 2019. Flu is caused by infection with an influenza virus. Masking prevents the spread of both COVID & flu.

Visiting my Sister in the hospital . She recently had a lung transplant . While I have continued to wear the mask at work since 2020, I have begun to wear it again outside my home, at the supermarket, at church, in small rooms, etc. I also have allergies so if I’m outside for long periods it’s on.
