I didn't see this in person, but it always makes me laugh. It's a pom-pom crab, it holds a sea anemone in each claw, and WAVES them at its enemies to scare them off. The anemones benefit from scraps of food the crab drops - everybody wins!

The crabs are actually deliberately starving their anemone symbionts to keep them small - they can get MUCH better if properly fed bsky.app/profile/the-...

Not what I heard - the crab will TEAR an anemone in HALF if it gets too big. I don't think crabs have the brain power to anticipate anemones outgrowing their situation.

They tear them in half if they only have one. If they have two they just keep them small by starving them - you don't need a lot of brainpower to do that, just keep stealing food from them👇 bsky.app/profile/the-...
