Perhaps (although I doubt it) non-racist immigration controls are possible. However, every single specific immigration control any government has ever implemented in Britain has been a response to racist panics about specific groups of migrants, starting with the antisemitic 1905 Aliens Act.

You posted "stop the boats" without even using the quotation marks the headline writers chose to use. By initially choosing to frame it like this, rather than as 'immigration controls', you are repeating the attack line from Farage, which can only help him.
