Dead Poets Society - I was a bit “adrift” at the time. Saw it in the theatre and realized that I wanted to be “that” person. The person who just knew things. That knowledge for knowledge’s sake is enough. Returned to college and did great because I just wanted to absorb.
Not especially movie related but your experience felt like mine... I flipped at uni a few times because I thought I was preparing for a job, quit and travelled (read a lot then too), came back in a frame of just learning and did really well.
Yeah I think that’s the trick to college. I’ve told both my kids this too; find a subject that really interests you and study it. Don’t worry about what job you’ll get. If you like a subject, you’ll be good at it and the job will find you.
