The pro-life movement has always been less about protecting foetuses/the unborn and much more about punishing women for having sex. Once you view their actions through this lens, all their policies on this front seem to make much more sense.

It also builds on a strong foundation of the "Woman = Baby Maker, highest fulfillment, true purpose, etc" propaganda. Pregnancy is so easy, so simple, so "natural," so blessed by God ... why would you need to go to the ER? When all they do is look for excuses to kill babies??? Better to just not.
