I know the island very well. Yes, some of the dock is still there. My friendβs dad was a Ferry captain. Unfortunately, they are both gone now. I was born after the causeway was put in so I never got to take the ferry.

Sorry to hear about your father and his friend. For some years now my visits to the island have been for interment services. On a sunny summer day, the Village can be a beautiful and peaceful setting for this. I should visit for other reasons, but meanwhile Iβll enjoy the pics posted by others.
Thank you, but it was my friend and his father. Thankfully, I still have my father. Yes, the village is a very beautiful place for all manner of ceremony.
Apology for my careless and thoughtless reading of your post, your gracious response is appreciated. On a different topic, are you able to suggest a good natural history/ecology book focusing on MB, for the general reader? No luck so far at the library or at bookstores.
