Heading back to the launch. It always feels so surreal when the water is like this. I’m starting to feel the heat of the day out in the open like this, but we’re getting close to the car. 6/8

I was thinking that the water looks like glass here and then comparing it to the ripples on the lake. I kayak in Whiskeytown Lake and Lake Shasta, and it is usually wind blown.

It’s not even September, but the geese are already on the move. I’m not sure if these guys are heading south or somewhere to feed. We are right on the central flyway, so we get a lot of bird traffic. 7/8

The launch is just before the bridge, but I couldn’t pass up drifting underneath it a little bit before pulling myself out of the water. I hope you enjoyed this little interlude as much as I enjoyed my paddle this morning. 8/8
