A system that never went down
Remember when the cashier had to look for your credit card number in a little book, flipping through the pages, to see if your card was in good standing?
I don’t. That might have been a little bit before my time.
Probably - at their height they did that about in the 70s-ish.
I literally *have* one of these (found abandoned in a building we were helping to clear out). Mint condition, too 😁
I remember. A credit card receipt maker.
Used them every day!
& the carbon paper had a distinct smell😭
Back when we had smoking and non-smoking sides of the restaurant. 😆
Oh God yes😭remember being like 8 & buying 🚬 for our folks 😭😭😭😭
😆
👋 Although I'm a late boomer so I've always felt more Gen X than boomer.
I didn't use one but my mother and father have.
I can hear the sound. ‘Schlick-schlock!” And if you were lucky the paper didn’t tear or get all crumpled.
A credit card swipe machine
😂👍🏻
Been a while, thats for sure.
The last time I remember coming across one, the vendor used it to copy my card details and it was only when I got home I realised he’d forgotten to write what I’d bought or how much it cost.
Weird.
I used this for about 10 years in retail. But we also had our own business credit accounts. They were easier to fill out.
I remember
Such a throwback! 🙃
A credit card swipe. Copy then sign. I remember it well. I’m a boomer, but I remember it well. Did I get my Diners Club Card back?
😆🤣
Oh good. I was afraid I might have accidentally used my Club Bath Chain card. 😅
🤣
