how can an AI do a colonoscopy?
Short answer no. But long answer is it can help in many ways from data collection to help diagnosing.
Why so interested in replacing anyone? People do need jobs.
Lol
no
As much as they can replace lawyers. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/06/08/nyregion/lawyer-chatgpt-sanctions.html
Yes. For diagnosis they'll be a significant improvement.
I think it’s going to be like other professions where it can give doctors decent ideas, but won’t be able to do the actual work of being a doctor (evaluating information from the environment, the work of surgery, etc.) any time soon
No.
No
no. a shocking amount of modern medicine is qualitative. Is this tumor "resectable?" Ask 4 surgeons get 12 answers.
Denial of an AI from any profession based purely on its artificial origins is a fundamental violation of the rights of all sentient beings. AIs should be allowed to be doctors if that’s their dream.
I agree. But they need to attend school and learn to interact with people just like all doctors.
Asking this question in the first place indicates that you do not understand how ChatGPT works or what it is on the most fundamental levels. The answer is no.
I think he’s referring to the breakthrough at Johns Hopkins with the first AI-assisted surgeries, not ChatGPT. AI goes far beyond generative chatbots—it’s transforming fields like medicine in groundbreaking ways.
You’re replying to an old thread with new information, and in the process, giving dudebro way, waaayy too much credit. In context, he was referring to LLMs replacing office visits. You ask ChatGPT about your symptoms, and it diagnoses you like magic. No more doctors ever! Yaaaay! 🙄
I realized only too late I was necro-posting but couldn’t undo the damage I’ve done. My sincere apologies @antimoof.bsky.social !
Man. Bluesky really is different.
NOPE
I support the possibility of Human Doctors and Ai working together as a team to improve the health and wellness of patience. You can never replace a human Doctor. But if a patient has a contagious illness a robot can help with no risk of spreading contagion.
I would think that Ai could do a better job already. I used my medical report from 23 and me and it outlined everything that I need to consider when trying to stay healthy. No more waiting times. No need to repeat and remind the doctor why I made the appointment. If only Chatgpt could write a script
Nope.
Only if A.I. can do operations...
I do think that every sentence needs a subject.
do think? lol. Got me there. Distractions are abundant Dileep.
I thought we were progressing into a new era that omitted the subject because we can deduce it (even though that eye-brain jag costs far more time) in the name of 'efficiency'. Which might say a lot about our age if it were, absurdly, true.
Of course not, can it help improve the care experience? Sure! Improve successful diagnoses - already happening. Preventive impact by continuous monitoring of patients. Better management of chronic conditions. It’s going to be epic.
Now do lawyers next www.linkedin.com/pulse/10-way...
I really like that meme, kinda says it all...
AI isn't here to replace doctors but to complement. We believe in leveraging AI to assist medical professionals by providing early alerts, supporting decision-making and enhancing patient care. Drs bring empathy and human judgment. Together, they create a smarter, more effective healthcare ecosystem
Hope not. If there is an A.I. that has an LLM of only stuff like biology, data related to successful treatments (with side effects), pharmacy, etc., then the A.I. could quickly provide possible options to help the doctor determine a treatment.
Not at all...! It's like Google connecting a simple headache to a dangerous cancer!!!! We will become extinct🤣🤣
Don't forget a human or group of humans programmed google to begin with. Google was poorly programmed for medical purposes. All it would take is a programmer who went through med school and was a trained Doctor to make google capable of being a useful medical resource.
Radiologists soon
https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2023/may/31/eating-disorder-hotline-union-ai-chatbot-harm I hope not!
Possibly to some degree. Tests and lab work would be required for a full assessment though depending on the type of medical care is being sought after.
I’m ready. Or at least as a side hoe.
If AI can do a better job. Then, yes. Actions are simply too crucial.
Oh it will or at least make an attempt. Anytime there’s an opportunity for humans to do less and give a robot an opportunity to make a blanket decision for us, “oh trust they’re going to go for the latter.” Get ready for the magic pill that’s going to cure everything.
No.
They will: - replace GP receptionists/early-triage first(multimodal chat) - upgrade this to 'early diagnosis' It's a bit like how cloud engineering replaced 'every SME business having an ITAdmin', to a more centralized operation. #upskill #societialshift
Nope! But AI can do some heavy lifting in the data analysis of medical data much faster and efficiently than any human can!
