Totally agree. No future president (or Fed chair) will ever allow significant inflation again even if unemployment is high. People care if they have a job. They don’t care if someone else does. Sigh
I’m having the realization that Larry Summers might be right *not because he’s right*, but because that is the most that you can do politically without paying the price
And conversely, Obama might be right about deploying lofty rhetoric but relatively restrained policy for the same reason
