Even if you successfully ask your coworker out for dinner and they are happy to be asked and interested, there is a risk someone else saw and is not happy. Risk reward ratio means this never happens anymore.
And the cost of rejection has gone from "feels embarrassed" to "maybe gets fired". Pretty big change.
It's why almost all dating has moved to apps. Those are the one and only place where you have absolute consent to flirt.
Workplace relationships are always a bad choice. But, you're right. The dynamic has definitely changed. Feels like the men are more brutish and women respond as one would expect. If I were young and facing today's dating environment, I think I would just stay home and watch porn.
