Definitely bots, with the usernames and display names not matching too (like “Monica” with judy in her username). I report these to Bluesky and block them when I see them

I’m aware of a few reasons - sometimes it’s directly to farm up followers for that account then turn it to some other use like selling it/spamming/spreading misinformation, sometimes it’s to make an account look active then use it to follow other accounts so they look more legit.
