“Best” is always a tricky call but that’s tough to argue with. He played on 7 consecutive Record of the Year winners and for a period in 1968 he was on the #1 and #2 songs on the Billboard 200. And those aren’t even his best known credits.
For the record the others in the convo imo are Earl Palmer, Jim Keltner, Buddy Harman, Pretty Purdie, Al Jackson Jr, Roger Hawkins, and Matt Chamberlain.
Wrecking Crew forever
Correct
his drumming has so much character, but it's also clean and never threatens to become the star of the show
Jeff Porcaro is the drummer on every track on “Katy Lied” except the last one… where it’s Hal Blaine youtu.be/fDWV-570oXo
Best song on the album IMHO
did not realize the Dan got Blaine on a track. they also had Steve Gad on Aja.
Dude - Gad’s solo on Aja is Take One
Blaine drum fills and Michael McDonald in the chorus, what more do you want
