Our ( former ) friends wrote on a mutual friends Facebook ( who is in a same sex marriage) the Trump was the lesser of 2 evils before election. We can’t even bear to go to any events that they are at. A 40 year friendship gone.

I'm so sorry. It's hard. What's happening (I think) is that people are revealing their true colors and, in some cases, the truth is so offensive to our own moral code that the relationship has to change. Remember the 3 categories of people in your life - reason, season, or lifetime.
