Not to mention the indications we have right now is that there is enormous economic pain on the way, hitting rural areas the hardest.

I am not at all confident that economic pain in red-voting districts will hurt GOP turnout or voting: any and all failures of the system can be successfully blamed on "those people" in the blue areas not following MAGA principles. It's reactionary politics, not economic statistics.
