It’s been 105 years since the certification of the 19th Amendment, which granted women the right to vote. Today, we must recommit to protecting the right to vote and pushing back against efforts to disenfranchise Americans by passing the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.
You know Tim, freedom and rights are inherent in all people. The Constitution, right? The 19th Amendment didn't "grant" women voting rights, it eliminated restrictions unfairly placed on women, that dehumanized them. And maybe the more our leaders frame things this way, the better we will all be.
