Very mysterious how immigration never seems to decrease in spite of everything. Personally, I would love to see significant reform with a fairer visa structure but that would require acknowledging certain truths that some Australians would rather not face (we are dependent on migrant labour)

Disability care , aged care, restaurants, cafes would collapse without migrant workers.

Entire sectors would collapse if you booted out all the ‘temporary’ migrants from Australia like hospitality and construction. Australian unemployment is at near record lows and there are still many vacancies in many sectors.

aged care, early childhood both absolutely rely on migration.

The US has the same problem, and an immigration system that is long overdue for reform. Those demonizing migration the loudest, are absolutely unwilling to acknowledge how dependent, in the same way, on migrant labour (and migrants in general like international students) the US is. 😵‍💫
