Yes, this is mahonia. It will attract honeybees to its nectar rich flowers. Also, migratory cedar waxwings will devour berries in the spring. 🌱🦉
That's a mahonia, isn't it? I've planted two but they looked very unhappy (probably a combination of poor soil and terrible weather) and one died last year. Yours looks splendid! 🌱
Yes it is a mahonia. I find it's a bit of trial and error on what works in the garden. Luckily this has been a success 🎉
Mahonia (Oregon Grape) can be finicky when transplanted. It's super tough if it lands in a happy spot.
Another name for it is Oregon Grape. While it takes a lot of picked berries, squeeze the juice out through thin muslin cloth and make a dynamite Oregon Grape jelly.
