Man I'm just fucking tired of people using slurs at all. I've done all I can to navigate a life where we all get along and live to better each other. If you're grandfather is using a slur that is identified as a slur by multiple people in the here and now, what do you think is right?
Well these are strangers online who I don’t know. Strangers online who I don’t know also say that transsexual is a slur but I actually like the word.
I don't know a single person who thinks transsexual is a slur. It's incorrect because the proper word is transgender. But a slur not so much. Transsexual is the equivalent of coming out. But call me Indian? That's fighting words.
That’s an oversimplification. “Transsexual” is a specific type of “transgender”, and equating the subtype with the umbrella term is invalidating for everyone under the umbrella, both transsexuals and not. bsky.app/profile/2gd4...
I think most folk think Transsexual is an anachronism, so I definitely see people give side eye when its used... but that is distinct from a slur.
