Drama in the garden this evening when there was a blur of bird activity causing me to spill my beer 😂, the rather chonky sparrowhawk did not catch any sparrows tonight. #wildlifeinthegarden #sparrowhawk #wilddrama

A very 'dumpy' looking sparrowhawk sits on the edge of the garden bench. It faces away from the camera. There is a privet hedge in the background. The sparrowhawk is now looking at me while I'm still laughing at its posture. Close up of the cat who first alerted us to the drama. She is a tortoiseshell rescue cat. Photo taken at the window, the sparrowhawk is blurry on the bench in the background.

Nice photos. A female sparrowhawk was the first bird I ever flew. Way back when I was a boy. I've loved them ever since. There's something about them & goshawks which capture the essence of the wild wood.

Thanks! They are beautiful birds. I don't see many around where I am so it really stops me in my tracks if I do! Your bird photos are brilliant 💫

Love the photo where the sparrowhawk is looking at you and of course, the lovely hawk alarm!
