Congratulations to that James Hetfield looking dead motherfucker. Hard graft eventually pays off decades later.

Is the UK Chart always this Schizophrenic? I feel like Kyle Reese at the beginning of the Terminator: What's the Date? NO What YEAR! 😆
Yeah. Since streaming took hold, it's perpetually a mix of recent releases and big-name perennials that a large chunk of people are always listening to, with the odd spike of interest for something old if they've died/are touring/have just had a major reissue etc.
That whole Nick Drake thing is wild. Is one of the tracks being used on Tik Tok as a soundbite? I love his stuff, but it's pretty emotionally heavy.
A major new boxset of Five Leaves Left came out the previous week, it'll be that. tidal.com/browse/album...
Ah hah!
but can he catch Phil Collins?
Surprised he's not really trouble the LP charts much before (one week), I mean yes I know he sold sod all in his life, but since the mid 90s or so it feels like there's always someone banging on about him, a reissue happening, a book out, a Brad Pitt documentary, music turning up in an ad etc.
I guess it's only in the streaming era that these small groundswells of interest register on the chart. But yeah it does seem strange considering he's someone known to pretty much anyone with a half decent depth of knowledge about music.
It took a pair of crusty old Radio 2 DJs to give Eva Cassidy the recognition she deserved, so it's great that Nick Drake is now reaching a wider audience. He wrote the most beautiful songs.
That's incredible!
Blimey, well spotted. Just 1211 more weeks to go before it catches up with ABBA Gold, then. I'm on that site all the time at present as I research artists on my epic playlist from 1980, but I hadn't spotted that.
