I love how he threw away period piece convention more and more as the film went along. Great stuff.

This is a fantastic movie. No surprise that American critics hated the film, it happily craps all over America. Cox was actually the first choice to direct The Running Man (King adaption) but he had to leave that film to make this. I weep at not being able to see his version of that King novel.
