So what’s their excuse for not giving him a trial? Is it just that they can deport him before he can go to trial and prove them wrong?

Yes. They are corrupt, and have not followed the DOJ manual. They are not supposed to indict unless they are convinced they can get a guilty verdict. They always knew that this was a bullshit charge, IMO.
