Residency on what? Yes. The USA will still be here when you get back.
A month is the perfect amount of time I think — you can settle in, but just when you really start missing pets, family, etc. you head home. Some advice I got: focus on the work. It’s privileged time.
I preemptively miss my cats so much maybe I will just bring them instead of clothes and books
What's the plan for the kitties afterwards? The longest we've been away from home was about 20 days for our wedding and honeymoon.
Normally when we go on holidays - for less than a week or so - we get a neighbour to visit and feed them morning and evening, but on that occasion we got a friend from London who wanted to visit Manchester to stay in our house for a few days so kitties can have extra human time.
My husband is not coming to the residency with me, the cats will be taken care of. It's me I'm worried about!
He needs to send you constant kitty pics and updates
Also the residency is in Paris and in addition to be excited about Paris itself, I'm also excited to be anywhere that's not the US... but also I kinda wonder whether the US will still be a country by the time I get back?
Like just feels like a kinda wild time to leave, is all I'm saying. Who knows what I'll come back to.
Lily, I think you are coming to share your art & wisdom with us here in Paris via the American Library? So thrilled! I’m a member & supporter & happy to help in any way, esp re: cats. Moved mine here last summer so I know the drill. Pls reach out if you need any tips or want to commiserate re: US.
I am! Thank you. I'm not actually bringing my cats though, just wishing I could
It will be freeing, one of the greatest things you’ve done, and you’ll create work you didn’t even know was in there. Bon appetit!!
