I'm very sad and unmotivated because I think all my paintings are horrible. Does anyone have any constructive criticism? Except the perspective is messed up because it's on purpose, lol. I have a degree in interior design.

Prefacing this by saying that I'm far from up to date on my painting theory, but maybe you could experiment with incorporating some softer/lost edges here and there?
And also from a perspective more distanced from just technique, design-wise I think you could also experiment with reinforcing the contrast between surfaces (open/closed, round/angular), and maybe including more lines to contrast with your usage of surfaces and to direct the gaze a little more
I love your work, I think its fun 💖 As for constructive comments just paint what you like! I think your colors are fun and vibrant~ maybe some darker lines here and there could help them pop, but your subject matter and style are great :3
Não vejo como ruins, vejo como um estilo próprio e eu adoro seu estilo
My only criticism would be that sometimes the figures don't stand out well from the background. I wonder if putting a thin black border around them would help.
It is proposital
Shit idk anytime i see a piece you made its the best thing ive ever seen and i mean that unironically
I don't really have constructive criticism, but I like your paintings and I think this style is very whimsical. They are like tasty snacks for my eyes
bsky.app/profile/guil... I made this second piece based on the constructive criticism I received on my previous artwork! The image is definitely more legible and has better values, but now everything looks kind of dead and lifeless =(( I hate grayish colors.
Could be possibly overthinking? As in - you paint a *lot* - and work constantly. Sometimes stepping away & doing something else for a bit - like more than a day - can give your brain time to solve the problem for you (or decide there's no problem). (Don't mean to negate what you say tho)
Everyone says that, but it never worked for me.
I like it! If you find it too plain or dull maybe just add some highlights here and there?
oh no I love this one! I like more muted colors. It's not lifeless, it's more calming, which is what I want in a bubble bath😊
Definitely very nice atmosphere in that pic, I like it.
The values are messed up, I know, and if you watch the speedpaint you'll see that everything was fine at the beginning of the painting and I messed it up and then I spent some time trying to fix it and it only got worse. vm.tiktok.com/ZMAj59qFc/
I'm only saying this much since you asked directly. I think different shades could have been used to make the smaller animals, frog and mouse, stand out more, didn't see them at all at first. The pink is a strong almost harsh color, for the relaxing setting you're trying to depict. Just my opinion.
Thank you! I purposely left the small details a little faded because I'm afraid it would be too much. And worse, the color choice was also a conscious one. I wanted the painting to be a bit trashy, a bit campy, a bit Barbiecore, late capitalism, and not something relaxing.
Ah! Well if that was the intent, I assure you, you succeeded. I like the work even more now. Context is great And I understand worrying about having too many details in-focus cluttering a piece
This piece looks confident. I think I'd need to hear what your aspirations are to give any direction. If you are feeling that they are "all horrible", this could be a sign that you should pick a radically different approach (or, two) and try it out to shake things up.
I'd also suggest trying to find more detailed words for your feelings about it. Can you come up with more precise word than "horrible"? In the same way anxiety could be more precisely termed fear of abandonment or anticipation...
Life drawing or doing a study of a famous painting can help broaden and reset your skills. As can doing observational drawings of set times. 10 minutes, 2 minutes, 1 hour (this one you'll have to ruin and save several times)
Your Art is exceedingly beautiful and rad! Not constructive or criticism, I know but I am not an artist, just a dog who adores your work. 🐶💝
I don’t think I can give good criticism but, I will say ive always found your paintings to be quite charming which is why ive been drawn to them. Especially this one, it’s very fun. Some people may think your paintings are horribly but, I’d have to disagree. This is exactly my taste.
I wish you could see them the way we see them. They're so wonderful and unique. That is so important in a world that is increasingly becoming AI inundated. Keep sharing your gift with us. 🎨
I like using the digital tools, I'm not sure how you feel about them since it seems like you prefer your traditional skills regardless of the medium you work in? I would maybe put a color filter over this and play with it until the values are better. Or just move onto the next thing!
You work fast so I don't think it's that big of a deal if you end up with a couple of pieces you don't like.
Commercially speaking, no, “horrible” art tends to sell quite well too, so it's more profitable for me to release a lot of art.
I think being able to bring pieces to completion quickly is a valuable skill for many artists. If you complete a piece, then you can look at the entire image and see what you like and don't like and learn and adjust for your next piece. Also, I think your art is good!
Your paintings are very lovely and they brighten my day every time I see them. And I know I'm not alone in that. Maybe you're feeling like you're not challenging yourself enough? I think focusing on more on composition, color spaces or different techniques might help?
I should do traditional art again
Another approach could be picking a painting you really like on a subject matter level and then just doing it over and over and trying to perfect it on a technical level.
oh fuck that, you do you
Every artist is their own worst critic. You see what you wish your artwork was, other people just see what you made and love it for what it is. Keep working on your craft but no matter how good you get, you are always going to be judging yourself against what you wish it could be
Sharing in case it helps: If you feel like you're making horrible work, try setting some time aside and make actual horrible art? Something illegible, disgustingly bright and nonsensical. Expel those thoughts and feelings and see what horrible art to you looks like, then give it another shot after.
We get lost sometimes focusing on the values, the silhouettes, are there any tangets, etc. But great works can come from breaking these things too!
