It’s always been these lawless cretins. Who else could?! Fun facts: 1) FBI informant Peter Thiel (who is never described as such) is why & howTrump decriminalized ketamine, MDMA,🍄etc. 2) Thiel’s 1st job after law school was working for Bush 1’s Bill Bennett, literally creating the war on drugs.

Even if I’m mostly pro-legalization, I’d have obviously chosen a different version of reality than this one & obvi I’m not pro corruption—but is there really anyone who thinks our drug policy on psychedelics would’ve changed so drastically with any President (or the GOP or Dems) other than Trump?

Relatedly & again, I’d obvi not choose this version of reality nor discount the depth & breadth of the harm—but this is the 1st time in my lifetime that I think it’s possible & even probable that our appalling immigration policy will change during my lifetime. Unless of course none of us survive.

Very “only Nixon could go to China” vibes

It’s a great analogy because folks really bought that narrative (fucking Kissinger!). But, in hindsite, it was inevitable? And tho it was then viewed as politically risky & failure was possible, the potential upside was obvious & enormous. & in contrast, it was not thoughtless & purely corrupt?

Obvi I agree “I alone can fix this” is nonsense but, for better & worse, aside from this mobster felon potus (known for hating drugs but not as much as he loves corruption) I can’t imagine any other US POTUS would’ve unilaterally de facto decriminalized mdma, ketamine & 🍄during my lifetime or ever.

To be clear: this is not a defense or a justification or something that I want to think, let alone defend. But I am beyond dubious it would’ve or could’ve changed any other way….it’s still hard for me to believe it has!

You’ve not seen all the psychedelic startups? It’s more de facto than de jure—so venture capitalists & drug cos can profiteer in but BIPOC folks are still incarcerated? More here: Trump Orders ‘a Lot’ of Ketamine for VA www.theatlantic.com/health/archi... www.vanityfair.com/news/2020/02...

Seems more like it’s now that there are no laws? but it’s also kind of a hodgepodge of EOs, rule changes & selective enforcement of laws? Like the FDA approval + the EO about veteran mental health for Ketamine. And then Biden didn’t manage to get the toothpaste back in the tube & here we are?

ugh. we always knew bobby would fuck up everything he touched but i had a sliver of hope that maybe after having one too many teenage blood bags one evening he’d recklessly unschedule all the psychedelics rendering his existence slightly less than a complete blight on humanity but no such luck.
