Considering an Executive Order is not law, and SCOTUS declared that burning flags is protected speech, I think you'll be safe. You might get detained by 20 goons and be on a DOJ X post, but you will be out in a couple of hours.

I hear you, but also, that's exactly what he wants to happen. You don't create an illegal executive order to actually try to put people in jail for a year. You create it to make a wedge issue politically, so you can say "look at these unpatriotic Democrats" and enrage your base and low info voters.

They did. He's weaseling around it by saying if someone's committed another crime AND burned a flag, the punishment for that first crime will be stronger.

Three better ideas: 1) Wash the American Flag. Similar point, won't get you arrested (maybe). 2) Burn a Confederate Flag. (Again, not anti-Exec Order, but the crowd might beat you up. 3) Burn a Trump 2024 flag. Maybe then they'll catch the irony. Then again, they don't really get irony, so.....

If anti-Trump protests include burning American flags, that will be a huge benefit to Trump.

Step 1: Create a bunch of new Federal crimes. Step 2: Send the military into only Blue cities. Step 3: Send as many Democrat voters to prison as you can and make it impossible for them to get out. Step 4: Strip voting rights from anyone convicted of federal crimes. Step 5: Win “election.”

Don’t do that. They’ll look for “agitators”. This, too, will pass. Trump is keen and smart. He knows most Americans have a visceral reaction to seeing the flag burned—protected speech goes right out the window. I think burning the flag is a significant statement, never a crime, but I’m not Trump.

It's the patriotic thing to do, imnsho. We have to burn the flag to symbolize the freedom it represents; someone can wordsmith that better, but it's the idea.
