I found it insulting that they tried to tell us to go on that early admin leave until Sept & then had the audacity to tell us "You need to be available to train your replacement." THE FCK I DO... It takes an average of 9-12 months to hire a new employee from scratch to do my job. Not happening.

Feds are covered by UCFE, and state UI offices must confirm the circumstances of separation with the employing agency. DRP acceptance makes them ineligible for unemployment. I know because I am one.

If you live in a red state it might ignore the law & not care whether DRP is legal or not. When your pay expires I’d recommend you file for unemployment, get qualified, stay qualified(make required # of job contacts each week etc…) and when you receive checks come back here & thank me😉

I’m an HR manager and do the majority of recruiting for my area. When I see over 100 people apply for one job, you don’t have to show me jobs numbers or labor reports. I’ve been doing this for 18 yrs. I was shocked when I saw the 258k. Unemployment is rising, and those 150K plus aren’t even the mix

Sept. 30th to be exact. We won't see the impact until the Oct jobs report is released in early November. Retirees, and those who have found new jobs will not impact the unemployment rate, only those still actively looking for a job will. The loss will show in the enployment data for new jobs.

There was no prohibition in the deferred resignation to take a job (but not from a prohibited source) while on admin leave. So, while many of the people who opted for retirement are, most likely, not in the market for another job, people who are resigning on 9/30 are already re-employed or close.
