What we have learned is that every “state’s rights” racist blow hard never believed a word they said. All they ever cared about was the right to racially discriminate. They didn’t give a fuck if it was from the state or the feds. They just wanted to be legally racist.

I think we always knew that, but they're now so blatant about their hypocrisy that they don't think anyone will do anything about it. Sadly to this point, they've been right.

In fairness to some of them, they were quite openly explicit that they only wanted freedoms until they could take them away from other people on their terms. Right Wing radio people were openly saying they only wanted Free Speech until they had the power to control it.

I would say it is more about class warfare against poorer people (regardless of race or national origin) than racism, but the principle is the same.
