quite frankly I think there is also some latinophobia in there as well. your uber driver isn’t “rude” if they pronounce your name phonetically in spanish

Came here to say this. I did door to door sales training in Miami for a week and the language barrier was a way bigger deal than I thought. I also believe it goes beyond language barrier into just a cultural shift that I wasn’t prepared for.
