Most people don't understand that after 168,200 you stop paying social security tax that rises every year but someone making $10 million this year pays the exact same dollar amount as someone making $168,200. Remove the damn cap

I would that work? Would people who pay over the current cap receive a higher monthly amount since they are contributing more?
With the added income they could surely raise the amount but I pay property taxes and school taxes and I do not have any children in school nor have I ever so I don't think that is a good barometer to go by. We all pay for things that we don't get the benefit of.
Thats fair. We should probably remove the mirage that SS is somehow earned and just call it welfare for old people.
How is it welfare for old people if they paid into it their whole life? You can't collect social security if you never paid in so calling it welfare makes no sense.
Because they didnt really pay into anything. They paid other people's SS. Now that they are retired, current taxpayers are paying for their SS. Thats taking money from one person and giving to another. Thats welfare.
You pay into social security every single year those dollars are used to fund people who are retiring now but those people also placed money into social security it's not welfare and if you think it is you need a course on exactly what welfare is.
You basically just described welfare right now. You acknowledge its taking money from current taxpayers and giving it to others. I support SS, I dont want to see old people living on the streets, but I am not going to fool myself into thinking its anything but welfare for old people.
It would be welfare if you never paid into it but you did so it's not welfare unless you don't understand what welfare means. This is a stupid conversation.
Just because you paid for other people's welfare, does not mean its not welfare.
