You are not in error with what you said. Democracy requires constant vigilance then to stand up and fight when rot in the Democracy is found. Democracy starts with the individual controlling themselves which by their actions bleeds in to the community & wider Society.

Sure. But not everyone’s role is “fighter” Many will be medics, propagandists, saboteurs, worker leaders, teachers.. etc
