They are *more* of a threat, yes. I don't deny that. But "solidarity" is meaningless when it's issued through bland platitudes. When he can't even bring himself to say trans women are women, how exactly is he going to stand up properly for trans people?

Solidarity is actively doing things to support and protect each other. I have no trouble saying, as I believe, that trans women are women, but on its own that achieves nothing - just a platitude. Mothin is the deputy leader, so I hope you will see what an actual ally he is over the next 12 months

I don't quite agree, and sadly I don't think I will be surprised, but I'm always willing to be wrong. That platitude is incredibly important because it shows that the person believes in the self id of trans people, which is Green party policy, and very important. I doubt he will defend it sadly.

When transphobes are trying to segregate people into 3rd spaces, and put everything into "sex based rights", I don't see how you actively defend that with Mothin's views beyond going "stop attacking trans people." What is his view on the actual policies to defend and protect trans people?

I don't 100% know what his views are, but Green Party policy is clear, but he has a role which will allow him practically do the latter and attempt to break through with actual transphobes. Others in the party will provide more sophisticated perspectives

Green party policy has been clear for a long time. That has not stopped previous transphobes in leadership positions from pushing their agenda.

He is not a transphobe.

He may not be. I hope he isn't. That doesn't change the fact that the policy is only any good if actually enforced.

That's not his job. That's ours. The new GPEx looks like it will have learned lessons from the past and ensure the policy is not worked against

It seems like you're taking our reasonable fears as a result of poor communication strategy and previous poor policy enforcement as a personal attack. I'm going to disengage now, since I don't think this conversation is benefiting anyone. I hope you have a nice day celebrating the results :)

No sense of a personal attack. Apologies if it seems that way

Well, an easy way to clear this up and get us to eat our words would be to say he fully supports the Green party's policies on trans people and trans rights, which is he is yet to do. I fear it's definitely going to come up in the media and his answers will not help matters, but we'll see.

The *most* I've seen is "trans people are attacked and that's bad". That's literally the bare minimum. Does he disagree with segregation based on 3rd spaces? Does he agree that trans women are women and is for the self-id of trans people? I know the answers from all the candidates I voted for.
