I made it about 10 to 15 minutes in, before the full weight of its awfulness wore me down, and I longed for the redeeming light of a test pattern.

Not quite right. I've endured "bad" movies before. You can finish a "bad" movie, and walk away with a chuckle and a, "Yeesh! Not good!" This is something deeper. "Bad" would be an improvement. This was nuclear holocaust level awful! This was an abortion of every cinematic milestone ever achieved.
