I really wish being an ELA teacher meant that you got to read/collaborate in a literary book study alongside other ELA teachers at least once a year. Not on our own time. Like, I wish it was part of the job. (Because knowing/loving literature IS part of the job. Right?)

That would take too much time away from “unpacking the standards” which we spent 50% of our PLC meetings on this year

I had a department that felt like this once. It was a gift. You could pitch it as a PLC 😀.

Oh, my grade-level PLC is fantastic when we're moving through a book together—just would love it more often, and for courses outside of that PLC, too!
