Well, in my country, the church does not want to disclose the number of paedophilia cases amontg priests. Guess you can call it a kind of a shame. Oh, and not long ago, a male prostitute (or two?) was almost killed during and S/M event in one of the parishes.

Trad catholics and, dare I say, many American catholics aren't really the same as those from countries that speak a Latin-based language. Look at advertising in many of those countries and you can see they're at least somewhat less riddled with shame over so many different things.
