My first set visit was THE BOOK OF ELI. I remember a producer grumbling about me being there and if it was coming out of the budget. I told him I paid for the visit. I refrained from reminding him that the only reason any of us were there was because I came up with all this shit in the first place.

I saw it in theatre with a buddy of mine, loved it, purchased it on blu ray and have probably watched it a good 25 times. Excellent film, well done sir

Many thanks for The Book of Eli. Such a great, original story that had so much heart. As another user said, it's great running into a creator of something you love on a place like this completely by chance. I have to ask, how well do you feel your vision translated to the final product in this case?

That's awesome to hear. It's always a good thing when the vision of the creators makes it to the audience. Just for the record, I consider Rogue One to be tied with Empire for the best SW film. Probably my favorite individual story in the whole franchise. Not to mention your other work. Thank you!

I have never understood this mentality. I work VERY far from Hollywood, so don’t know the politics involved, but is it just that by the time shooting rolls around it “should” be the “director’s/producers’ show?” Maybe it’s because I am one, but I’d think having the writer around would be invaluable

When I was in Jr High, I found that movie on iTunes and thought it looked pretty cool. Turns out, it would become my favorite movie. I watched it over and over. Years later watching Kinda Funny, I found out you wrote it!! Genuinely one of my all time favorite stories

I would have said something. Then again I would also 100% expect full access to everything if someone was shooting *my* film. If I ever get to do anything movie related it is good to know this is something to negotiate and not just common god damn courtesy.

That producer needs to take the stick out of his behind. Btw, my 80 year old MiL loved Walking Dead, saw every episode, and got most of the extended family watching it.

I’ve saved Book of Eli to show to my older teen kids. Just a few weeks ago! They needed to be old enough to appreciate it. It is one of my favorite films ever and I think of it often. I loved watching their reactions and I truly thank you for writing it. It’s now in their top 10 list.

I didn't really do social media--- ever. I honestly made this account to bump numbers cause screw Elon. And I keep coming across, just randomly in posts, people who made things I adore. This has been a lot of fun. Love your work! How does "I paid for the visit" work? Just curious.
