UK spelling = aeroplane. US spelling = airplane. Both shortened, for as long as they've been around, as plane. I have now caught up and Sarah did say "airplane". Acceptable in UK 1963 en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Pla... #wato

My late father always reminded me that it is not a plane, it is an aeiroplane, as he was taught when he did his national service in the RAF. #WATO

My Dad was an aircraft engineer 1930s - 1950s and he always called them biplanes or monoplanes 😊 Sometimes just, planes. #wato
