Half the time I remember to put -ai at the end of my search. I’m so annoyed when I forget.

-ai is not a great option because it will exclude information about or mentioning ai instead, use &udm=14 at the end of your search. it is an internal google code that turns off the summary you can also make it a part of your default search. udm14.com has a guide

Is this a Chrome thing only? Because I don’t use Google’s spyware browser if I can help it.

firefox lets you make your default search www.google.com/search?q=%s&... so you never have to type it in again, just does it automatically

Wait I also use Firefox but am having trouble figuring this out - do I need to have %s in my search query in order for it to remove AI? I tried making this my default browser in Firefox but AI results still were at the top of my feed when I tried to do a search

yes the %s does need to be there, thats the "search query goes here" code im on my iPhone right now but this is what it should look like in settings:

a screencap of the settings page for firefox app, showing where to paste https://www.google.com/search?q=%25s&udm=14

Works on Safari too.. Simply change your browser preferred search engine & home page and/or stick a favourites button somewhere useful: udm14.com (or use another non-AI search engine and reduce your inadvertent funding of Google...)

I did this. I don't have the patience to have to "-ai" every search. bsky.app/profile/alan...

Just don't use Google in Chrome. Set the default search engine to DuckDuckGo, instead.

I've used DDG... and I still prefer the straight web results from Google. 🤷‍♀️

DuckDuckGo has AI "Search Assist" now but you can disable it in Settings.
