I learned an interesting tidbit from Neil at his Captain and teh Neil show. He realized early in his career that his answers to astrophysics questions had to be a soundbite of three sentences or less.

No. Reason doesn't cure ignorance. People can, have and do armor themselves against reason. People were dying in ICUs in 2020 from COVID while denying the disease was real or that masking and later vaccines helped. Empathy can allow people to consider other POVs and change their own reasoning.
