Need recs for whole house audio. I’m partial to JBL. We have the Authentics speaker in main room. I want to extend sound to front and back porches et al. Apparently there is a JBL app to drive multiple speakers but looks clunky. Before y’all jump in the mentions with Sonos, is there anything else?
looking for a single environment/controller with some level of "smart", or do you have a separate receiver in mind? Architectural/built-ins? Already wired? Powered vs passive? Lots of options depending on what you want, and what to spend. Crutchfield is pretty good at speccing it out once you know.
Doing separate Homepod/HomePod Minis depending on the room at the moment, myself, but I'm already deep in the Apple/Homekit environment
They do multi-room audio out of the box fwiw

Sonos is still the best bet -- even after their app upgrade debacle. And FWIW, they fired the CEO who was in charge of the app debacle. The new guy came from product development and has been saying and doing all the right things.
Yeah. I already know Foot is gonna recommend Sonos and in the next breath he will say the app/tech sucks.
Nah it’s been fine for me for along time. I still am a big proponent of Sonos
im a bose guy. lots of connectivity with their speakers and the app that controls it all is pretty intuitive. excellent customer service if you ever need help
OK I will look at their stuff but it’s 2x JBL and less low end.
i had a jbl bluetooth speaker once that had a defect and their customer service was awful to deal with. i was able to get them to send me a replacement that also ended up breaking in the same way. i ended up just tossing that one and calling it a loss
i only have a set of noise cancelling headphones and a pretty bombproof (for the most part) bluetooth speaker. both have pretty decent low end in my opinion but everbodys preference is different. the nicer devices connect to the app that has eq settings you can play with.
If you’re seriously thinking about dropping the $$ needed for quality whole-home audio … schedule a consultation with your local HIFI shop. They’ll help you evaluate the best direction based on your needs & budget.
This is the right way to do it. When I can, I'm having the house wired for ceiling speakers. I have Bose Speakers in different rooms now, and it serves its purpose. That being said, it could be much better.

Ya these are sweet. Klipsch also has some fantastic audio combinations.
i was told by someone a long time ago, if you listen to the GD, you need klipsch because of the horn sound
I think your other Sonos options for a Sonos type config are Wiim and Heos Prob depends on budget and your tolerance for tech learning curve?
You could do WiiM and pick your own JBL powered speakers. I have a Sonos surround setup with the sub and love it for the main TV but use a mix of of other stuff via airplay throughout the house.
I tried the Juke Audio stuff and it’s meh.

I'm not sure who owns HK, but the speakers are really good.
Running some old-school Chromecast Audio devices plugged into main stereo and little amps driving small speakers, inside and outside. They don't make them anymore but if available and cheap, definitely an option worth considering. Poor man's Sonos'd.
