It's perfectly logical in a Trumpian sense. Remember "if you stop testing, it'll just go away?" "Just stop the count, stop the count"? Makes absolutely perfect sense through Trump's worldview.

This comports with the dismissal of the Acting FEMA Director who had the temerity to suggest that FEMA is essential and should continue to exist in his testimony to Congress yesterday. Spoke truth yesterday, got fired today. Wouldn’t want facts to get in the way of Trump’s mad pathology.

It’s easy to get rid of costly disasters if you stop calculating the costs or actually pay for rebuilding. Pandemic proved that reducing measurements and data keeping reduces the incidence of disease.
