A lot of people think 80s style was all neon and gradients, but I remember these cool stylized paintings (paging @supcat.bsky.social ) and really intricate cartoon art that would reproduce well in black and white.
I haven't really been able to find any more of these; Marty Goldstein is listed as the publisher. Would love to see this kind of thing pop up on archive.org, it really is an encyclopedia of 80s design sensibility.
It's funny, because you can very much see the style of underground comics filtering down there. The Gilbert Sheltons of the '60s and '70s finally having to give up and find straight jobs.
