Hollow Knight
Be like Elon. Cheat.
talk is cheap
Me looking at my thousands of hours of fighting game experience, and still not being able to combo to save my life....
*Eyeballs Slay the Spire*... Uh, yeah... Really good is how I would describe it....
Heck, any REAL gamer knows that it's not about being good, it's about being anywhere but reality for a little bit.
I feel this so much
It's like that with me and Stellaris or any of the 4X games. I set the difficulty to "winnable" so I can just chill and relax. I have LOTS of hours, but when I have actually have played competitively against a human, I get my buttocks bidet'd and then wiped.
For me it's the XCOM-games: savescum crusader on easy mode! 🛋️
Oh yeah, that's a good example of a game where I loved the level design, the story, and the hub mechanics. But SUCK at it and not willing to learn to "get good." I am just looking to have fun in my own way.
I did that too one some parts where I did NOT want my guy to go there. But ended up anyway with a stupid misclick that you cannot undo unlike FFT. (Final Fantasy Tactics.) I had the hard mode for that game. Loved some of the challenge.
"savescum" I am such a pervert 😬
Total War Warhammer 🥲
Any day now, any day now, any day now
Dead by daylight in a nutshell
I'm pretty damned good at games I spend forever playing, but after a lot of time, you start to see the areas you'll never improve in. pro-gamers don't have those weaknesses, straight up. so even though my kung fu is awesome, it will never be as good as someone who is both talented AND skilled.
Borderlands 🥲
Ultrakill moment
Good vs having fun. If you're not having fun then it's not worth the pain.
I feel the same way with every fighting game ever.
Factorio.
Hunt Showdown
The truth burns 😭
My journey with Destiny 2 🥹
Why you gotta personally call me out specifically?
Yeah 😭😭😭
Ouch. I feel this
team fortress 2 be like
"But I have 1k hours in Killing Floor, too!" 'No one cares about that game.' "Yeah, but... I actually know how to play that one. :x"
at least half of these hours are from throwing sandviches on 2fort
That's exactly what I was thinking! Whether I'm good or not, I love playing that game so much! 😆
Rimworld
I am trying to get my Diablo 4 character to level 300 and tier IV. I understand the pain here.
True pain
So close
me on my 27th fallout new vegas playthrough (I keep quicksaving so I can eviscerate every important story NPC right on the spot with VATS and while on psycho)
Me at literally anything I like
It's like I'm reading my own biography!
Tell me you play DCS World, without telling me you play DCS World.
Me with Final Fantasy 14. I have 3100+ hours, and I wont even pretend I know what im doing. I miss my sprout.
So much pain
All 405 hours I have spent on this game is just me waiting for Bannerlord to be good
Me with Halo. Been playing since Halo 2 since 2005 and still can’t complete a campaign on Heroic much less Legendary and I still suck at multiplayer. Its a series I love so much I just keep playing anyway lol
A friend got me into halo in 2015. Completed them all on legendary once and that was it. I always play on normal for my peace of mind.
I play on easy sometimes... doing it that way kinda works from a lore perspective for games like Doom, really. Doomguy is supposed to be an unstoppable badass so it makes sense that you should be mowing everything down with relatively minimal effort :P
*Looks at the nearly 800 hours on #stellaris , has never finished a game...*
Mood
🥖
Good enough for me.
Dota 2 lol
Don't do this to me...
Hello, guy who spent the last two years teaching literal children how to play fighting games here, and I would like to say this:
I’m feeling seen.
But he was not good at the game
Wow! you have been drawing for a very long time you must be really good at it! :')
This one really hit home.
As a Monster Hunter player, I can’t relate.
Me and PEAK right now
Me with elden ring and warframe...
This is me with Monster Hunter. Over 500 hours in World, closing in on 170 in Wilds... I still wouldn't say I'm good at them :/
Yeah... I have 2700 hours played on Fortnite and I don't think I'm especially good at it. However it is fun.
Monster Hunter, Elden Ring, oblivion…. 🥲
RimWorld moments
This is how elden ring makes me feel daily

Dwarf Fortress players: nope, and no one else is, either!
That would be me with Royal Match
Saved to troll my gamer children. 🤭
(Quickly hides tournament ranking in Rocket League)
Me, every time a join a random dive and somebody points out my user rank in Deep Rock Galactic. Sure Greenbeard, I shot myself into the air with my RJ250 overclock and downed by fall damage just so you could get more revives. 😅
Did you have lots of hours of fun with it though?
Me playing balatro like 🤣
I mean… yes and no. Sometimes good, often times horrible.
Soulsborne, Monster Hunter and DBD. I'm a persistent player. Idk how the fuck I beat/100% Bloodborne, DS1/3 and Lies of P.
hypixel skyblock is my pain
Monster Hunter/ Souls Games
It is certainly an evolution in a Gamer's life when they are finally able to seperate the hunt for skill level from having fun in the gaming experience. Once you can do that, there is a certain freedom in not caring who is the best at such and such a game and just playing it for shits and giggles.
I try to remind myself of this whenever I find I'm taking things too seriously. I'll just put down the controller and watch some Youtube if I'm getting too frustrated.
over 9000 hours on ff14 still gets slapped by boss mechs
He wants to be good at it
Hah! Thats me in bf2042 right there 😄 But I just love heat of the battle and friday night fights.
Oh yeah. It hurts specially when you are just above average after so much effort. "Effort always makes you the best" no it doesn't, never had that friend that comes, you teach them and they are by the end better at it than you? Yeah, I had this probably 1000 times in all different types of things.
Why this keeps happening to me? Idk man. I'm like good at 2 or 3 things and every new hobby I teach something to someone they grt better than me so fast. Once I taught a friend the day before the test in university the entire thing that was going to be in the test. He got a 10 I got a 5.
I wanted to be good at a lot of stuff and I always end up between the below or slightly above average. I get better very very very very slowly over time and sometimes I teach people twice and they are already better than me :(. It's like a fucking curse.
It's never gotten a lot worse than the "guy I taught just went ahead and got a 10 and I got half of his grade", but close to that many, many, many times. It's like"bro do this" and things work better for them than for me and I'm like "this shouldn't have worked THAT WELL".
And then I do maximum effort to achieve something similar to what the person I taught did just after barely knowing what to do, I show them "hey, look, I can do it too" and they are like "oh, that's cool, I did that 100 times now, happy for you, tho". And they aren't being mean... :(
Me and Mario Kart.
Me and my 800+ hours on SF6
splatoon moment
Ive played minecraft for a decade or so now, and ive never beaten the enderdragon in survival lmao
It's hilarious - SW Battlefront 2 is having a resurgence, I've been playing for six years and all the newcomers are already better than I am. I usually just end up in Co-Op mode.
it's the most fun thing in that game. I'd like to see the next iteration have like bosses and boss mechanics to make coop more fun and rewarding instead of simply killing dumb bots all day.
I'd like to see a co-op mode for space battles as well. There's no way to practice flying.
yeah, absolutely. I love the game, but I stopped playing because I wasn't good enough for pvp and slaughtering dumbass bots got old.
I think the bots are good. If you don't have a full squad of 4 you don't have much chance on a lot of maps. Some are just impossible - almost never capture the final checkpoint on Geonosis, or attack/defend successfully on the MC85 Battle Cruiser, or defend on Mos Eisley.
Sometimes the AI seems to crank it up a notch, like when it plays heroes. Or they spam flame troopers in a New Order matchup. Sometimes they just seem better for whatever reason.
you know what? now that you mention it, I do remember some really weirdly hard times too...
My kids seeing me play any game. Them: Wow! You must be great at this! Me:
Having fun in a game, and being good at it are two VERY different things XD
Me with Stellaris
Me with The Binding of Isaac....
I feel called out regarding Expedition 33
This how I feel playing Cyberball 2072😆 Decades of playing and still…
